Great Battles - Pittsburgh Landing - Number 1 in the Great Battles Series. This just might be the first Civil War history book ever published. The Battle of Shiloh or Pittsburg Landing, was fought in April of 1862. This book is actually very comprehensive regarding the Union side, and was published in June of 1862. That's 60 days after the actual battle. Even though this book is number 1, there never was another book published in this series.
