Union Commissary Kit - Food was obviously an essential part of army logistics. Whether beef on the hoof or hard bread in boxes, soldiers needed nourishment. This kit contains three forms which tracked the resupply of subsistence stores and the distribution of food to the troops. This kit contains:

Invoice of Stores Turned Over – When changing Commissary officers, a list of the stores on hand had to be inventoried for the new Commissary officer.

List of Stores Received – New commissary supplies were acknowledged through this form.

Provision Return – A listing filled out by the commissary sergeant requesting how much of each item should be issued to a company.

Consolidated Provision Return – Similar to the Provision Return, but for all the companies in a regiment.

Quarterly Return of Commissary Property – A large form listing all the items that fall under the responsibility of the Regimental Commissary Officer. This form shows items on hand and items used.
