Military Instructions for Officers in the Field
- Description
There were many drill manuals published around the time of the Revolutionary War, and reproductions of those are numerous. But Roger Stevenson published a book on tactics in 1775 and we have reproduced it. Stevenson’s book includes advice on building fortifications, fortifying villages and buildings, the qualifications of a partisan, defending and attacking posts, secret marches, ambushes, and more. The forward includes a dedication to the new commander George Washington. Illustrated with 12 plates, this 242 page work is a great insight into how the war was conducted on the American side.
